I was born and raised in the Philippines, in a small city outside of Manila. I come from a family of 7 kids and I am the youngest. After graduating UCLA in 1998, I went back to school to study various interests- I have a degree in Apparel Manufacturing from FIDM, Education Credential at Cal Poly Pomona, Masters in Educational Technology from Azusa Pacific University, and an Administrative Credential from University of Southern California. The greatest training I ever had in business was to work for a start up company called Kentucky Denim Company in 2004, where we started with zero account and turned it into 400 accounts, not including the distributors we opened in Europe and Asia–all within 1 ½ year!
For years, I worked as a salesperson for various companies in Southern California improving sales performance for various products including jeans, scarves, accessories and baby items. Over time, growing sales performance for different product categories became an obsession.
I landed accounts internationally and formed strong relationships with vendors, carefully listening to all their needs and partnering with them. International sales grew year over year as well as domestic sales.
As I gained exposure and experience in growing sales performance for various companies, the idea of creating my own space on Amazon started consuming much of my attention. Inspired by my two kids, I saw an opportunity to sell on Amazon and grow sales for my brand partners.
In my spare time, I like to experiment with new activities and new places with my kids. My hobbies and interests include spending as much time as I can with my kids because they are growing up so fast! I also like spending time with my family and friends.
A few of my favorite things:
Favorite color: pink and black
Favorite food: steak and chocolate covered apples
Favorite show: Madam Secretary
Favorite brand: Loft
Favorite store: Amazon and Target
Favorite drink: Espresso
Favorite hobby: experiencing new places and things with my kids. I love traveling. I’ve been very fortunate to visit many countries, meeting new people, seeing new architecture, visiting churches and learning about the stories behind them, learning about the beauty of other cultures.
I was born in an entrepreneurial environment. My mom did not finish high school in the Philippines and grew up without her parents because they were very poor. So at a young age, she had to hustle and help my dad support their 7 kids. In the Philippines, there’s not a lot of work available even for people with college degrees. So my mom, who didn’t graduate high school, had to compete for jobs with other college educated individuals. One day, she decided to jump in with both feet and approached the Philippine Military with extreme confidence. She decided to manufacture whatever product they needed and she was going to figure out how to get them done without prior experience. For many decades, she performed this job flawlessly.
After graduating UCLA with a Political Science degree, I knew that I had to re-prioritize my life and follow my love for sales, building relationships with people, and growing sales performance. I was good at improving sales and I wanted to transition this skill to growing the sales for my partner brands on Amazon. The funny thing about selling on Amazon is that it’s not just about sales, but also the love for the brands and the people behind it and their story.
It was very rewarding to improve other brands’ sales performance year after year outside of Amazon. This year, I would like to improve our partners' brands sales performance on Amazon and be a part of their fruitful journey.
There is nothing like sitting with our brand/partner over coffee and talking about our journey and growth together on Amazon.
My mom was a business owner in the Philippines. She was a manufacturer and supplier for the Philippine Marines, Navy and Air Force. I also have many family members in the Philippines who have their own stores. So I was raised around an entrepreneurial family. My mom used to always say, “Love what you and you will never work a day in your life.” So when I work with brands, I listen to what they want and to their goals and create a trusting relationship between us, letting them know that their success in the Amazon world is my success. Without their success, I will have no success either. As Henry Ford said, “ If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person’s point of view and see things from that person’s angle as well as from your own.”
I look forward to working with honest and trustworthy brands and building a strong sales performance as well as a strong partnership. I believe that honesty, trust, and success can go hand in hand. I am very excited to see growth in sales with the brands that I work with as we navigate a fun-filled and thrilling ride to achieving our goals– which is to serve the Amazon customers with respect, grow our sales numbers and spread a little kindness along the way. As people in my country say, “everyday we wake up, is a blessing!”
